3N Chief's Island Safari
Chief’s Island, Okavango Delta
Partake in an nature and cultural filled safari that takes you to the most royal island in the Okavango Delta. You will camp wild, overlooking the Chief’s Island. Engage in a nature walk and mokoro excursion that brings you close and up personal to nature and leave your mark in the Chief’s Island, the largest island in the Okavango Delta. The safari is suitable for adventures and nature lovers or a travel group of 12 peoples.
Day 1 - Maun International Airport – NG27B (Okavango Delta)
Overnight: Wild Campsite, Okavango Delta
Includes: Wild Camping, Non Alcoholic drinks, Meals, Activities (En route Game Drive, Mokoro, Nature Walk)
You will be met by Safari Addicts’representetive or a professional safari guide who will elaborate pre and post safari itinerary. You will have little time to do shopping. i.e. that is if its truly necessary. You transit via boat to the famous NG27B, near Xaxaba Village. You will camp just a few meters away from the majestic Chief’s Island, the largest island in the Okavango Delta.
You will camp exclusively on Community based campsite, all the camp set up will be done by our backup team who does all these a day before your arrival. All meals will be prepared by a qualified chef in an open fire setup.
Along the way you will have lunch while sipping a cool drink on the big Nxaraga lagoon. You will have a hearted dinner at the campsite after a long transit. Along the way hippopotamus, crocodiles, elephants, and other general game can be seen along the river banks and the flood plains of the Okavango Delta.
Day 2 - Okavango Delta
Overnight: Wild Campsite, Okavango Delta
Wake up early morning, have a light breakfast served with cereals as to brighten up the day. Indulge in an early morning nature or safari walk into Chief’s Island. You will be led by your professional Safari Guide and your local guide. Come up close and personal with nature. You will engage all your senses in order to experience nature walks to the fullest. Both your guides holds a great knowledge of the area and they will be elaborating the formation and the habitats of the area.
You will return to the campsite to have your brunch and siesta. Followed by high tea in the afternoon.
After high tea, you will partake in an afternoon Mokoro excursion to explore more remote areas of the Okavango Delta. You will be paddled silently into thiner channels, See the bird life and amphibians along the way. General game can be seen along the flood plains and river banks. Elephants can be seen mud bathing or swimming. Antelopes might be seen congregating on the rivers to have their last sip for the night, predators or dogs might be watching who know, its time for you to find out.
Day 3 – Okavango Delta/Xaxaba Cultural Village
Overnight: Wild Campsite, Okavango Delta
Today, you will be taken to Xaxaba Cultural Village. You will have a chance to learn the Social and cultural setup of the Bayei and Basarwa. Learn their ways of Surviving in these wetlands of the country. An interesting topic will be the co-existence between them and wildlife.
Baskets will be on display, your best chance to learn about basket weaving, which trees or plants are used for dying different colors and patterns. If you want get yourself a souvenir. Cultural dance is the highlight of the day.
You will return to the campsite in the late evening for your hot shower followed by dinner.
Day 4 – Okavango Delta – Maun International Airport
Maun
Rise early morning, conduct a morning mokoro excursion, Search for animals as they are still active. Head back to the campsite for your brunch and proceed to Maun by boat. On your way back you will see many more species of animals and birds.
